If you are reliant on one of the main highways (I-35 or Mopac) and do not like highway driving you may find it bad - but this depends entirely on your frame of reference as to what a bad commute is. One good thing about Austin traffic IMHO is that if you are willing to be flexible about your travel times (flexible working hours, going to the gym before/after work, etc) then you can right now avoid the worst parts of it. read more
Considering a move to the Austin area and wondering what kind of traffic one might find from the various suburbs into Austin at typical commuting times. I am from NYC suburbs where a 10 mile commute to Manhattan takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours in good weather. read more
The map shows the average travel time to work in minutes by census tract, based off of data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2012 American Community Survey’s five-year estimates. The darker the color, the longer the commute. Across the entire Central Texas area, average travel time to work is just more than 25 minutes. read more
