Studying in the US has several advantages as compared to studying in the UK. For one, if you are an international student you can stay back in the US after studying. To be fair, I am a Harvard alum and hence am biased when I say that Harvard is better than Oxford. read more

In terms of quality of undergraduate education in an arts subject (I see you have an offer for history) - Oxford, Princeton, Yale, Harvard. Harvard has massive class sizes and its rep is really for its graduate schools, Princeton's rep is for undergrad, Oxford has the tutorial system which I think is unmatchable for history and some other subjects. read more

If 1. the overall student body is not important in your assessment of the school; 2. the connections/network at the school is not important in your assessment; then this means nothing; otherwise, I'd have to say Harvard is better than Oxford (in general). read more

As of now, according to US News and World Report, Harvard is ranked second among the best colleges in the United States; and Cambridge is ranked as the top university in the United Kingdom (Guardian Unlimited) with Oxford in second place although Oxford was once acclaimed to be the best college in the world. read more

But for academic purposes they are essentially both at the same level. As stated, Harvard has a good brand image, not necessarily the best education. read more
