The term "Middle East" originally meant Iran plus the Indian Subcontinent, and Afghanistan and parts of Central Asia: that is, what was in the middle between the "Near East" (the Arab countries and Turkey) and the "Far East" (China etc.) Somehow the usage of the term drifted westward to overwhelm the Near East (hardly anybody uses "Near East" for anything anymore) while losing most of its prior signification. read more

So in short Persia is Iran, its just a historic name for the same country. Its located in Central Asia/Middle East. Its one of the eldest civilizations on earth, and one of the few ancient countries, that are still in existence today (others being China, Egypt, and Greece). read more
