Is Istanbul near Ankara?

Answer 1 of 10: I am traveling to Turkey in late spring (may/june). I will be flying into Istanbul from the States. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for transportation from Istabul to Ankara? The price of airfare seems a little high ($550 USD). read more

So Istanbul is not near Ankara, it would take 4–5 hours at least with car. Less than 1 hour with plane (however thinking the time spent at the airport, whole travel would take about 2 hours) As I am living at the end of Anatolian side in Istanbul, I would still prefer plane over car, so for me Ankara is not that near. read more

Ankara Aviation Museum (Hava Kuvvetleri Müzesi Komutanlığı) is located near the Istanbul Road in Etimesgut. The museum opened to the public in September 1998. read more
