It’s bad for the deer. Raptors don’t search for bullets or shotgun pellets, and hard things tend to say in their gizzards so lead can build up in their bodies. If you cooked and ate lots and lots of deer steaks with lead bullets still in the meat, it could be bad for you, but your first experience probably would be a tooth broken from the bullet. read more
To get the very best performance from this type of bullet, instead of the behind-the-shoulder lung shot look for the center of the shoulder. The bullet will absolutely penetrate and probably still exit. As for meat loss, this type of bullet is actually much less destructive than most lead-core bullets. read more
well, I don't shoot gelatin I shoot deer with them. LOL. Every deer shot in NC with my 30-06 from 20' to 185yds was shot with a 165gr SST at 2850fps muzzle velocity. They all dropped on the spot and the bullets all expanded. I also shot 2 deer at ranges under 60yds with the 129gr SST out of my 6.5 norma. read more
