As someone who has spent many nights sleeping outside without a tent I can confirm that it is in fact safe, or at least no more dangerous than sleeping in a tent. There isn't much a layer or two of 1.1 oz. ripstop nylon is going to protect you from besides bugs and rain. If you must, use some big spray and check the weather forecast. read more
