Even as a cat-lover and owner, I can’t advocate Trap-Neuter-Return. First of all, the numbers don’t add up. While you’re neutering 5 cats, another 5 feral cats are having litters of 4–5 kittens each. They reproduce too darn fast. This is a hugely resource-heavy program that doesn’t actually reduce the feral cat populations significantly. read more
In a Trap-Neuter-Return program, community cats are humanely trapped (with box traps), brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped (the universal sign that a community cat has been neutered and vaccinated), and then returned to their outdoor home. read more
