It is probably too late now. There may be 1 or 2 left in the wild but they are effectively extinct. In captivity it is a similar story but for a different reason. read more

Balinese tiger - extinct since 1930s. Javanese tiger - extinct since around 1980. Caspian tiger - extinct, date uncertain. The odd one turns up though not for last 10 years. Malayan tiger - suffers from poaching and losing habitat to palm plantations. Indo Chinese tiger - under attack in Thailand from poaching. All Chinese tigers in captivity are descended from 5 males and 1 female which makes them very inbred. They are as such genetically extinct. read more
