Now the Indian Army don't kill the sniffers after their active services. Earlier up to the year 2015, the Indian Army used to kill the sniffers by passive euthanasia. But, after the matter is exposed to the media and a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court, the government has come out with a policy to maintain these dogs. read more

As far as i know, yes, its true that the Army uses euthanasia to give them least painful death as possible but in worse case scenarios which are incurable, terminally ill, severe injury, etc to save them from the excruciating suffering & buried with respect. read more
