Not really. It though bears resemblance to the duat from Egyptian mythology. When the worlds of percy Jackson and kane chronicles were joined in a trilogy it was mentioned in the third book"The crown of Ptolemy" that the mist is the upper layer of the Duat. It does not exist in ancient greek myths. read more
