No. Oakland is terrible. There are bullets raining from the sky every night and you have to fight crack addicts, pimps and hookers the minute you step out the door. I would avoid anything in East Oakland below MacArthur, the lower Fruitvale, International Boulevard, parts of downtown, and West Oakland from Market Street West. "Borderline" neighborhoods are around MacArthur Bart, the Temescal, North Oakland, the Lake, Lakeshore Ave, Grand Ave., the Rose Garden, Piedmont Ave. and Rockridge. read more
