While “pika” means sparkling and “chu” means a sound of a mouse, Pikachu is NOT a mouse. The pika also makes a similar squeak to the mouse. Pikachu’s design suggest that it is partially based off an obscure long eared rodent known as the Mountain Viscacha. It’s long ears resemble both the former and rabbits. read more
Advantage: Pikachu. Habitat: Pikas are native to cold climates in Asia, North America, and parts of Eastern Europe. They typically can be found on rocky mountainsides. A Pikachu in the wild is really only found in tall grass, often near a forest. No contest here. Advantage: pika. Longevity: Many pikas can live up to seven years. read more
