Portland is much more walkable than any other city west of the Mississippi that I have been to, but not nearly so much as Eastern cities like New York, Philadelphia, or Boston. The Southwest sector of the city, outside of the central portion, is laid out on former cow paths, and thus is a bewildering maze, but the rest of the city is mostly on a grid pattern, and thus much harder to get lost in. read more
