Yes, there’s crime in Providence—like any big city. But there is also crime in the suburbs and rural areas of Rhode Island as well. Providence has street gangs and criminals like any other place. You’ll see it on the TV news. read more

East Side of Providence is where Brown Univ, RI School of Design are located (lots of college students). West side (River Street / Smith Street) is where Providence College is located (this is the Catholic college), there is also Johnson & Wales University, Rhode Island College. Providence downtown area is very small compared to NYC. read more
