Is R2-D2 based on the Daleks?

R2-D2 doesn’t have much in common with Daleks other than having a mechanical body with a rounded top, and a rolling locomotion most of the time. Other than that, design-wise, personality-wise, and origin-wise, he’s a quite different character. read more
