Having spent a couple of months in Bucharest and a few more months in Moscow I certainly wouldn't call Romania Slavic. However Romania really did cause me to ask what being “Latin” means. You can say Romania has eastern European culture, but that doesn't make it Slavic. Not all Slavic nations have eastern European culture, just like not all eastern European nations are Slavic. I would say an eastern European country with a romance language. read more
Our language is a Neo-Latin one, but we are massively influenced by our Slavic overlay: traditions, food and I believe there are more words of Slavic origin in our vocabulary than of Dacian one (our underlay). read more
