Well Southwest Airlines was started in Texas, so it can be considered southwest. However, not all regions names correspond exactly with their geographical location. The Midwest has "west" in the name and it is closer to the east coast. The "south" doesn't extend all the way across the southern United States to California. read more

Southwest!!!!! I live in North Texas as well and have always considered Texas as the Southwest. The South is made up of the confederate states like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, etc. The Midwest would be more of your Indianapolis, Chicago, Kansas, Nebraska area of states. Over Thanksgiving, I was having a discussion with my mother who lives in Dallas. We were debating whether Texas is a Southern or Southwestern State. I've always regard anything west of Fort Worth part of the Southwest and the beginnings of West Texas.
