However, in the Anne of Green Gables tv series the characters confuse “The Lady of Shallot” with Elaine from the “Lancelot and Elaine” poem. Not sure if this speaks to a generic, lack-of-distinction quality in “The Lady of Shallot.” I thing Tennyson’s “In Memoriam” is a stronger poem—thought no quite so Gothic. read more
