The molting process is mildly (?) dangerous for all arthropods including spiders. There a significant probability of dying after a molt, independent of animals eating you. read more

My tarantula that I have had for 5 years, molts a few times a year. While it is not painful, they are very sensitive and vulnerable during this time. Should not even feed until the process is over. Even afterwards, be careful for a few days because they are still sensitive. read more

In order for a tarantula to grow it must go through a process called molting. Molting (ecdysis) is when a tarantula sheds its old exoskeleton (skin). There are certain signs of an upcoming molt. If the tarantula is a juvenile or an adult, it will stop eating prior to molting. When this is observed all feeding should cease. read more
