I believe that Prince Charles did spend some effort to learn rudimentary Welsh and I recall he may have actually spoken a few words in Welsh at his investiture in 1969 at Caernarfon Castle in North Wales. Welsh nationalist sentiment was running strong at the time, and there are more Welsh speakers in North Wales than in the rest of Wales. read more
