Is the twitching in ALS constant?

Best Answers

I was just wondering if nyone knows the difference in twitching with ALS and BFS. I'm assuming that with ALS it wouldn't be in your arm one minute, your leg the next, and your back/stomach the next. Isn't it usually in one or two particular muscles that is constant until the muscle dies? read more

Not really. They can come and go based on severity and type of disease. It will eventually cease when the lower motor neurons running from the spine to the muscles release the neutomuscular junctions as they begin dying off. In fact, the dying off process might be the cause of the fasciculations as the NMJs disconnect and reconnect. read more

I had them constant for six weeks and two weeks before I saw the neurologist they began to be bad one day and better the next. read more

I am wonder if the 'twitching' symptom of ALS is a constant twitching of one or more areas or if it is a random sporadic twitching throughout different areas of your body. For about 6 months I have had random twitching, more frequently in some areas (left thigh, etc.). read more
