Is there a dress code at Columbia University?

Not that I know of, no. We're a private University, and in my experience, even American public universities don't have dress codes. You will, though, see a lot of Columbia themed sweaters and t-shirts on campus. Likewise, for some reason certain subsets of Columbi really, really like wearing salmon shorts. read more

A dress code is a standard of dress for a social, academic, professional event, etc. Unfortunately, many Columbia underclassmen have absolutely no idea what constitutes an appropriate standard of dress. read more

There is no dress code for girls. Pro-Chancellor had said that it is difficult to define what is appropriate and what is not appropriate for them. Many wear sleeveless, three-fourths, printed tees,etc. read more
