There really does not need to be an “equivalent” in the US since we, too, use red poppy flowers on Veterans Day (November 11) as a general sign of remembrance of those who have fallen in combat (although Veterans Day is for all who served, not just those who died). read more
Some people choose to wear white poppies as a pacifist alternative to the red poppy. The white poppy and white poppy wreaths were introduced by Britain's Co-operative Women's Guild in 1933. Today, white poppies are sold by Peace Pledge Union or may be home-made. The white poppy may be worn alone or alongside the red poppy. read more
