Sugar can be added to the liquid probiotics just to make it taste nicer. The type of sugar varies and can be glucose/dextrose, fructose, maltodextrin, sucrose or lactose. Sometimes artificial sweeteners are used instead of real sugars - but I am not a huge fan of most of the artificial sweeteners. read more

Many probiotics that I’ve seen and taken contain maltodextrin (a type of sugar) as a filler ingredient. Well, I just learned that maltodextrin has a glycemic index that is HIGHER than pure glucose. This is BAD, if your blood sugar regulation is off. read more
