I mean, in a strict kind of way, there's no “free” universities in Venezuela. Major ones (LUZ, UCV, ULA, UDO, USB) charge a low tuition fee per semester (when I went to med school on the 90's it was 500 VEB, like a dollar back then, in Zulia University, one of the biggest and highest rated ones in here). In Venezuela you have 2 types of Universities: public (government fund) and private. Public Universities are free and have a very good reputation (at least 10 years ago). Private Universities are very expensive, and although the level of education could be good, is known that some people would buy/sell the slots, and even the degrees. read more
