Parisians do not practice much flood control ;) however authorities have taken a number of measures since 1910 (the year a huge flood paralyzed Paris for more than a week and inundated much of it). The main prevention measures are situated upstream on the Seine, there are 4 large artificial lakes which are there to help control the level of the river and prevent massive floods. read more
