Yes they should be “allowed” to have a dog, for chrissake. Homeless or not, the only reason someone should NOT be “allowed” to have a dog, or a cat, or a pet wombat is of they don’t or are unable to treat the animal well. read more
American homeless people deserve pets, because they are part of our culture. At the same time, those dogs earn their keep as guard dogs, therapy dogs and traveling companions. 8. read more
On a more serious note, the above things I noted are serious issues and I cannot say the amount of times people who have dogs and are homeless, use the dog in order to squeeze money out of people - giving fake horror stories (the dog being hit with a beer glass that was sitting half full beside her, was my personal favourite) and deliberately allowing the dog to become starved and depraved in order to create saddened pictures that pull on people to leave money. read more
