Just a note that UW CSE now takes 370 new majors each year, and hopes to be expanding to 475 next year (assuming legislative support for growth). UW CSE only “direct admits” (from high school) between 15% and 20% of its majors. read more

The University of Washington is highly respected in CS, ranked among the top 10 above Caltech, Princeton, and Georgia Tech. While UC Berkeley might be the stronger global brand, it would be difficult to justify the additional $40K per year. read more

But if you can get into Berkeley, you should be able to get into MIT, Cornell, or CMU as a transfer student, and a year spent at #6 UW will save you $30K and will not hurt your CS education very much. read more
