Not just that, these days, it is usually first and second degree murder (planned and unplanned/spontaneous) that receive the death penalty. While rape is a horrific crime committed by people with unstable/impulsive mind (hate the sin, not the sinner), it is grossly misleading to equate rape with murder, as they are two entirely different crimes and murder takes away the fundamental right to life, as opposed to bodily autonomy. read more
