In word you can choose [Insert] --> [Symbols] --> [Equation] and they type in the value to be super-scripted by using the carrot (e.g. '^' usually [Shift] & [6]) symbol and the number. Here’s an example at left of the typing and at right the result. read more
If you're using the equation editor / equation tool in Word, exponents are on the equation palette. If you're creating the equation yourself, you can use superscript - select the exponent and press Ctrl+Shift+= to convert it to superscript. read more
