Andrew was first a disciple of John the Baptist. He left John to become a disciple of Jesus. Andrew brought his brother, Simon Peter, to Christ. John's disciples fast. Jesus called Matthew the tax collector to be a disciple. Matthew, also named Levi, held a great feast which the disciples of John and Jesus attended. read more
Before we mention the disciples he attracted we need to learn a little bit about John the Baptist himself. He was born in 5 B.C. just 6 months before the birth of Jesus Christ. His father Zacharias was a priest who served at Jerusalem's temple. read more
The other, though his name is never given, was most likely the apostle John, the writer of this book.
