The reason is a historical blunder by independent India 1. Mount Kailash is in Tibet & British India had suzerainty over Tibet when they left in 1947. So, pre 1947 it was not part of China. 2. China occupied Tibet by force and India's idealistic PM Jawaharlal Nehru did not protest which was India's obligation as terms of Suzerainty. read more
