That said, even within roughly the same time and culture as Tesla, I’d say John von Neumann has a better claim to smartest ever. Both were polyglots, both had eidetic memories. But von Neumann applied his intelligence to more areas, communicated his ideas better and impressed more people as being simply smart. read more
