Romania didn't belong to the Ottoman Empire but it was ruled with the Ottoman Empire's blessing which meant that in the Medieval Times (when Romania was broken down into three separate entities: Transylvania, Wallachia and Moldavia) the Ottoman Empire usually chose or agreed with what leaders should rule these entities (mostly, they had power in Walachia and Moldavia and less in Transylvania which was mostly under the Hungarian rule). read more
