No. There were, I'm sure, some medics captured, but no nurses. The Germans were rather prudish about the role of women. Women tended to be in support positions—-air raid wardens, nurses, postal or clerical workers, secretaries. Even when it came to factory work, they were very limited in what they could do. read more

This is a great question. The German Army was often followed by administrative and medical staff which employed a large number of women but that was only after the area was secured. Stalingrad was never secured so there were few or no women and they were evacuated early. In other areas, however, many German women auxiliary forces were captured. read more
