Were ultra-orthodox American Jews drafted to serve in Vietnam?

My maternal grandfather was an Orthodox Jew who served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He did not talk much about his experiences, but from what he did mention, it was obvious that it was pretty difficult. read more

I don't think there were UO Jews drafted at this particular war, but in European and Asian countries in the 18th and 19th century UO Jews were drafted in the thousands at war times. UO Jews don't reject military service as a prescript, rejection may be based on circumstances. read more
