What are homeless shelters like?

Some shelters are decent, while others can be a horrible place to dwell. I’m speaking from experience; also I’m speaking from years ago. But I think now the system has gotten better. I recently joined to volunteer at a homeless shelter. I will give further updates soon. read more

Last week, I registered at a shelter in Atlantic City and spent the night in a jam-packed room with more than 100 other men. I also ate a meal and took a shower. I did this because I wanted to see what life was like for the ~636,000 Americans who are homeless these days. read more
