Texas surprises us. I was driving through years ago in a Mini Cooper when they were new to the US, so perhaps 2003. I though that surely I was in for a hard time, with my New York license plate, foreign car and big, geeky glasses. read more
Non Texans think of Texas as a cohesive unit, as though everyone thinks the same way. I grew up in New York state, but have lived in Texas for 30 years. Im in a much better position now to see Texas as the state it is, a state with rich diversity of culture and thought. read more
Texas has: lower taxes, cheaper housing, less regulation, more lax gun laws, and a lot of California's jobs. I have visited Texas a couple of times - Dallas, and Austin primarily. I didn't really like Dallas, but Austin was amazing, and I personally would love to live there. read more
