What are some cultural faux pas in Northern Ireland?

Making 'Tommy-gun' gestures and 'rat-a-tat-tat' noises when the subject of Northern Ireland comes up. A French person did this (admittedly 20 years ago) to me when we were talking about it. Loyalist - wants Northern Ireland to remain part of the United Kingdom and supports direct action / violence / terrorism to achieve that. Loyalist would be used to denote those political parties that are linked to a terrorist group. read more
