Here in the California desert, there is the California fan palm (Washingtonia filifera), the only palm tree native to this area. It grows in thick groves around oases and is quite beautiful. I have three of them in my front garden. read more

If you mean native to the united states, florida has the various sabal palms such as sabal palmetto and sabal minor. florida also has the royal palm, everglades palm, thatch palm, saw palmetto and technically the coconut palm. sabal palmetto is native as far north as north carolina and sabal minor can be found in southern virginia. in texas the texas palmetto can be found, and in california washingtonia filfera and robusta are found in the deep deserts. read more
