I think that it has been used to investigate Bose Einstein condensates, being the largest (physically) atom of all. But nothing else. They normally use Cesium, which is surely almost as good for that purpose. Francium almost doesn’t exist. Whatever you use it for will need to be in the same room as a nuclear reactor. It goes away really quickly. read more
