Big Sur is the best, and closest camping to Monterey. It is actually worth it to go down to Big Sur. The creeks, the River (Big Sur River), the camp sites, the beaches, the rocks, redwoods, the trails, the state parks, the scenic and breath taking coastline, are just a few reasons it is great for camping. read more
The Monterey pines between the campground and the road provide a nice air of seclusion, great shade and a windbreak for the blowing ocean breeze. All of the sites are beautiful, but site 33, near Plaskett Creek, is set the furthest back from the highway and offers the most privacy. read more
