They're fleece lined hand warmers. Lots of QBs don't like to wear gloves as they think it effects their throwing (and the type of glove the NFL allows players to wear aren't very warm anyway) but in cold weather games their hands can go numb and lose dexterity from the cold, which would be disastrous to any sort of throwing. read more
