Shinto possesses nationalistic aspects that may scare some Western onlookers. But this is a criticism that I believe is more mired in ignorance. The Emperor of Japan is seen as a descendant of the gods in Shinto, and is quite holy. As a practicing Shintoist, my interpretation varies from someone born into it. read more
