The Seattle Space Needle is an icon from the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. I wouldn't say that it is a particularly controversal structure. Cons include that it was an eyesore when it was painted orange for the 50th anniversary of the event, it is phallic in shape; which may offend some, and it draws a lot of tourists to a city that already has traffic issues. read more
Third, you can see the Space Needle, nicely framed by other downtown highrise buildings, as well as the waterfront, stadiums, and if the weather cooperates, the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier. Pluses - good location (near Space Needle, Chihuly, etc.), free breakfast with sufficient choices, and free shuttle. Cons - noisy traffic - better in some areas of the hotel than others; if you are a light sleeper - ask. read more
