What are the stages of an Equinox?

In April-May-June the point on earth beneath the sun is north of the equator. So sometime in March the sun has to be directly above some point on the equator, just for an instant. To a good approximation, that moment is the vernal equinox. Then there's another equinox in September. Same sort of thing-- an instant. read more
