Santa Fe has elevations from mid 6500 ft to over 8000 ft. The mountains behind Santa Fe are in the 12,000 foot range. New Mexico has extremely varied weather depending on where you are. Roswell area is usually much warmer than Santa Fe, Silver City or Chama. The Northeast plains can be quite cold and windy in the winter. read more

Winter in Santa Fe changes year to year. But if you're a person looking for minimal winter, I would not recommend Santa Fe. We have the full four seasons here including a real winter. read more
