While the Second World War was still very fresh in my parents' mind, my first exposure to war was the Korean War that I followed in the news. My mother lost a cousin there. We attended his funeral. As an aviator, a flight of fighters performed the missing man formation over his gravesite. That will forever stick in my memory. read more

Best Answer: I was born during the Cold War and was a military 'brat' until my parents divorced when I was around 10. So in the late 50's and early 60's, some of my earliest memories were involved to a point with the Cold War. read more

Cuban missile crisis. In hindsight we came closer to a nuclear exchange than was understood at the time. While we lived in fear and suspicion of the Soviets they were absolutely and totally paranoid about us. read more
