Lightning strikes at Christ the Redeemer statue. Back in 2008, a ferocious thunder strike damaged the head, eyebrows, and fingers. Thanks to the soapstone insulating feature, the majority of the lightning was earthed. The same stone from the same place was used in the reconstruction. read more
