Sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps) are insectivores and omnivores -- they eat insects, meat and vegetation, but not all foods are suitable for sugar gliders. Named for their preference for sweet foods, sugar gliders enjoy drinking nectar and tree sap the wild. They also enjoy fatty foods, such as mealworms and fly pupae. read more

Sugar gliders eat a wide variety in their diet. A bulk of their diet is fruit and veggies but yes, they do need to eat bugs as well. And yes, your glider will be happier if you feed it live bugs (things like mealworms and crickets). read more

While some gliders may be able to tolerate small amounts of flavored yogurt, they are generally lactose intolerant and cannot consume dairy products such as cheese or ice cream.
